Etruscan votive head of a youth 3rd-2nd C. BCE
"The deep-set eyes with pupils, the fleshy, curved, slightly parted lips, and the mass of finely defined curls spilling out from underneath the mantle drawn up over his head lend this beautifully sculpted votive head of a young man a remarkably life-like expressiveness, further enhanced by his pathos-laden turn of the head. Front side mould-made. Reverse convex with smoothed surface; small firing hole. The type is known to have existed in Cales (Campania), among other places. Minor restoration work on the lower edge, otherwise beautifully preserved."
