Uprisings of the Qin Dynasty 209-208 BCE
"208 BCE: The Qin Empire had at this stage plunged into a distressing state of utter and complete chaos.
The uprising against Qin by Chen Sheng and Wu Guang was the first peasant rebellion ever chronicled in Chinese history. Peasants all over the Kingdom started to rally by uprising, killing local officials.
Meanwhile at the capital, the Qin court had by now come under the complete control of the eunuch - Zhao Gao. Ying Huhai was ineffective, feckless and totally oblivious to what was happening to his Kingdom. The Chancellor Li Si having been arrested by Zhao Gao was subjected to over one thousand agonizing sessions of beating and torture. Finally incapable to sustain more excruciating pain and agony from his tormentors he unwillingly confessed to a crime of high treason against the Qin state. He was sentenced to endure the five chastisements; tattoo to the face, slitting the nose, chopping off the toes, thrashing to death, decapitation and being chopped up as mincemeat. All the three family clan members related to him were executed. Li Si was a Chancellor of Qin for thirty years."
