Mater Matuta (with twelve kids!) - Unknown date

"Several studies were carried out in the following years. It turned out that the sculptural group referred to the worship of the Mater Matuta, the Great Mother. A thousand-year-old cult, which has its roots well before the classical age. Over the centuries this veneration was adopted by the Greeks and Romans. In Roman mythology it represents the Goddess of morning Aurora, the mother of life, of the beginning, of fertility. An ideal figure for the ancient agricultural societies of Campania Felix, deeply linked to the birth of children and the enlargement of the family."
