Melian Amphora - The Judgement of Paris? 7th C. BCE

Large neck amphora in Melian (Cycladic) style, attributed to a Parian workshop. 7th century BCE. On the body of the vase there is a misinterpreted mythological scene with three Goddesses who are lead by a flying male figure that embraces a scepter a holds by a chain a mythical monster (chimera?) or lion. The four figures are welcomed by a young man holding a spear. The judgement of Paris? In the neck is rider with spear and shield. Archaeological Museum of Paros A 2652.
