Bust of Juba II from Volubilis 25 BCE
"At age five, Juba II was brought to Rome by Julius Caesar & paraded in his African triumphal procession. Caesar then took the boy to be raised in his household where he was educated, learning Latin & Greek & then granted Roman citizenship.
Juba II could be considered a philosopher-king, being a patron of the arts and scholar. He wrote books in Greek & Latin on history, natural history, geography etc. Pliny the Elder refers to him as an authority 65 times in the Natural History. Sadly, only fragments have survived."
