The Bandian Fire Temple 3rd-7th C. CE
One inscription reads: "I am Hephthalite, son … the Hephthalite is trustworthy".
The Bandian Fire Temple is a Sassanid archaeological site in Dargaz County, Razavi Khorasan Province, Iran, near the medieval city Abiward. It seems to be dated to the mid-Sassanid era (5th C. CE) around the time of Peroz I or Kavad I from what I see online (I don't know how accurate that dating is) and is thought to depict scenes from the Hephthalite-Sassanid wars. The scenes here may show Sassanid victory over the Hephthalites (White Huns). Peroz was utterly defeated by the Hephthalites every time he attacked them, and as far as I can see the Hephthalites never attacked Peroz and were never defeated by him. Kavad was saved by the Hephthalites twice despite his attacks on them. Sukhra, a Parthian, was a de-facto ruler of the Sassanid Empire in-between Peroz and Kavad, and this could also be from the time of his rule since he had some military success against the Hephthalites.
There is a coin that seems to depict an unknown Hephthalite ruler and the Sassanid ruler, Kavad I, together. It's possible this could be a mutual artistic attempt at peace between the two.
