Minoan Thera Wallpainting Exhibition: Cows, 17th C. BCE
"Building Beta
Room Beta 6
H: 1 / 1.10 m
Highly fragmented, this wall-painting was originally thought to depict dogs. Recent finds indicate the fragments to represent bovines, calves. This composition, found near the wall-painting of the ‘Monkeys’, is of a different scale and thus is probably not related. Further archaeological evidence indicates that cows, sheep and goats were domesticated and raised at Akrotiri."
